چکیده
Abstract Background The purpose of this study is to elucidate the association between peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC) in upper extremities and lower extremity deep thrombosis (LEDVT) by observing changes D-dimer. Methods This was a retrospective cohort with 3452 patients (104 PICCs 3348 without PICC) enrolled at neurology department from April 1, 2017 2020. underwent color Doppler ultrasound (CDU) D-dimer examinations. LEDVT-related factors value were analyzed before after PICC insertion. predictive for LEDVT also evaluated. Results Univariate logistic regression analysis showed that insertion increased risk 9 times promoted increase 5 times. After adjustment, multivariate 4 tripled increase. concentration significantly unsuitable excluding PICCs. Conclusions increases level LEDVT. risks need be assessed ensure expected clinical outcomes.

Upper extremity deep vein thrombosis: a complication of an indwelling peripherally inserted central venous catheter
We report a case of peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC)-associated deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Ultrasound images and video of subclavian thrombus are presented. PICC line-associated DVT, particularly in cancer patients is not uncommon. Point-of-care Emergency Department ultrasound can readily diagnose this complication and device removal is not always necessary.
متن کاملUpper extremity deep vein thrombosis after migration of peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC)
INTRODUCTION Peripherally inserted central venous catheters (PICC) are widely used in cancer patients and ultrasound-guided PICC insertion could improve success rate. The tip position of the catheter should be located at the border of lower one-third of the superior vena cava (SVC) and cavo-atrial junction. The migration is malposition at the late stage after PICCs were inserted, and catheter m...
متن کاملDeep vein thrombosis in orthopedic surgery of the lower extremities.
To prevent pulmonary embolism due to deep venous thrombosis (DVT), we have treated 611 patients undergoing orthopedic surgery of the lower extremities with our protocol including pre- and postoperative ultrasonic venous screening and anticoagulant therapy if necessary. A total of 118 patients (19.3%) developed DVT. Among demographic and clinical factors, the site of operation (knee joint surger...
متن کاملIncidence of deep vein thrombosis related to peripherally inserted central catheters in children and adolescents.
BACKGROUND Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC) in children and adolescents are being used with increasing frequency. We sought to determine the incidence and characterize risk factors of deep vein thrombosis associated with peripherally inserted central catheters in a pediatric population. METHODS We conducted a prospective study involving consecutive patients referred to the radio...
متن کاملPericardial Effusion in an Extreme Low Birth Weight Neonate with Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter
Background: Pericardial effusion and cardiac tamponade are the rare complications of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC insertion) in extreme low birth weight infants. In this regard, paying attention to these complications is of utmost importance, because they can result in infant death. Case report: The case of our infant is a sa...
